About
Bloom’s famous hierarchy refers only to the cognitive domain. In terms of an individual’s development, cognition comes later than the other two domains (affective and psycho-motor). This blog is named for the idea of putting these in their proper order with feel first…represented by the shark for reasons which may be explained later.
These three kinds of activity also correspond loosely to the stages of development proposed by Piaget:
- FEEL might be a good name for stage 1 {Piaget’s “Sensorimotor” stage (birth–1 year)};
- DO covers all of stage 2 “preoperational” (2-3 years to 7-8 years) and probably most of “concrete operational” (7-8 years to 12-14 years), and
- THINK represents Stage 4— “formal operational” (14 years and older)
.
